Stephanie,
You should be able to buy some masonry hooks at the BX to hang pictures etc. They are plastic with a base that has 4 small metal nails in the base. You hammer on the base and it drives the nails into the cement. It leaves really small holes but willhold heavy items. They usually came in packages of 4 or 5. If you can't find any, let me know, we probably still have some. We stocked up once we found them, they worked so well and were so easy to use!
Yes, you mow all year. We arrived in January. I have a picture of Craig mowing in feb. with his winter coat on and it raining. We had kept waiting for a day it wasn't raining to mow. The grass was taller than Christopher (at 20 months) when we realized you don't wait for a dry day in England to mow!
Bury St. Edmonds is a nice town. Plenty of people from base lived there when we were there. As to space in your house, if you didn't have to take any windows out to get your furniture in then you're doing GREAT!

Still haven't mowed. The grass is green, but the leaves have changed colors and fallen. Our front yard is constantly full of leaves, covering our gravel front yard. It just seems so strange to mow in 40 degree weather!!
